All WKA and IMCA races were on dirt.
In 2004, Jess raced his Supertruck in Nashville at a much higher level. With 30 trucks competing in 2004, he could only run five races and stay eligible for the "Rookie" title in 2005. Running against 18 to 20 trucks each race, Jess finished in the top ten three times and 12th twice.
In 2005, Jess won one heat race and "Rookie of the Year" at Music City Motorplex. He won a feature race on dirt with his open wheel modified . Jess then took the same modified with changes to asphalt and ran the North vs. South Shootout at Nashville. Coming in 6th out of 35 starters. He finished higher than any other competitor from the South.
In 2006, Jess finally won his 1st feature race at Music City Motorplex. He ran up front and led laps against competitive racers. Jess finished 4th in the Supertruck points race, only 2 points out of third, with 6 top fives and 10 top tens.
In 2007, Jess finished 6th in points. In the past three years, only he and one other driver has finished that high each year.
In 2008, Jess finished 4th in points. He is the only driver to finish 6th or better in the past four years.
